The average consumer is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2023\/10\/12\/consumer-spending-us-down-amid-inflation\/71156389007\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tightening their belt<\/a>. As we begin 2024, The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/money\/blueprint\/investing\/economic-outlook-2024\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Conference Board projects<\/a> real US consumer spending will drop 1.1% in the first quarter and 1% in the second quarter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With this typical profile of who retailers are selling to, let\u2019s dive into some trends that might help win over the zero consumer in 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" style=\"font-size:30px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">Contactless Checkout&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Who relishes the thought of long line-ups that place you within easy sneezing distance of other mall customers? One good outcome of 2020 is raised awareness of the importance of hygiene, which accelerated contactless checkout trends. Customers like the option of paying for their purchases with phones or credit cards without touching a keypad or interacting with a cashier.
