This sudden change forced them to experiment with new technology and tools, ultimately proving the viability of remote work and that it, in fact, <a href=\"https:\/\/globalworkplaceanalytics.com\/resources\/costs-benefits\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">positively affected productivity<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several reasons why remote work has become so popular:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It allows a better work-life balance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It increases productivity, as employees with autonomy over how and where they work tend to work more efficiently<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It saves employees commuting and other traditional office expenses but also cuts company spending through reduced need for office space<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"challenges\" style=\"font-size:30px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">The Challenges<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"blog-link\">Statistics show many workers prefer remote jobs. A recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/lucianapaulise\/2022\/12\/08\/the-2022-status-of-remote-work-and-top-future-predictions\/?sh=2e92efb61310\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Forbes<\/span><\/a> article stated that 87% of respondents thought remote work options improve their work-life balance. And an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.business.att.com\/learn\/research-reports\/is-corporate-america-ready-for-the-future-of-work.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">AT&amp;T study<\/span><\/a> found that the hybrid work model is expected to grow from 42% in 2021 to 81% in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"blog-link\">But it\u2019s not all sunshine and rainbows. Of those not working in the office or at least in a hybrid environment \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/buffer.com\/state-of-remote-work\/2023\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">30% report<\/span><\/a> they are somewhat disengaged. The reasons behind this include feelings of isolation. Here are just some challenges workers face:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Effectively communicating and collaborating<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Feeling disconnected from office culture<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trouble separating work and home life<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>When asked about distributed work and its challenges, Compucom\u2019s Senior Human Resources Director Krystal Barnes said:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:400\">\n<p class=\"blog-blockquote has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-d2d814615f132bbe22e1c6f5d002c544\" style=\"color:#000018;font-size:16px;font-style:normal;font-weight:500\"><strong>&#8220;<\/strong>Remote and hybrid work aren&#8217;t going anywhere. Employers need to ensure that their people, processes, and tools can support these models \u2013 everything from a seamless onboarding experience to setting and managing clear expectations, so employees are set up for success, all the way through an individual&#8217;s last day and their offboarding.<strong>&#8220;<\/strong><\/p>\n<cite><strong>Krystal Barnes,<\/strong> Compucom Senior Human Resources Director<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>She went on to say that \u201cone of the biggest areas of opportunity is around communication. It is more important than ever to check in on overall well-being and mental health. How are your peers and your team doing? In the remote world, we&#8217;ve lost the &#8220;water cooler&#8221; talk, so it requires checking in to be more deliberate and planned.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"keys\" style=\"font-size:30px;font-style:normal;font-weight:600\">Four Keys to Remote Work Productivity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>To maintain excellent communication, collaboration, and productivity from afar, you need to invest in good-quality IT solutions and services. Enabling employees with great technology experiences and support as they access company data and apps and collaborate with their co-workers will give you a competitive edge over other employers.
