1. Do More with Less

For many IT leaders, the mantra “doing more with less” dominates strategic planning. According to a Lakeside Software survey, 65% of IT leaders prioritize streamlining operations amid economic uncertainty. AI can be a crucial ally here by automating repetitive tasks and processes, freeing up valuable resources for strategic initiatives.

As part of our Infrastructure and Cloud Services, we provide AIOps capabilities for real-time insights and predictive capabilities that help cut costs without sacrificing quality or performance.

The Clock is Ticking for Windows 10 — Plan for Windows 11 https://www.compucom.com/plan-for-windows-11/ Fri, 11 Oct 2024 10:00:00 +0000 https://www.compucom.com/?p=5097 The Clock is Ticking for Windows 10 - Plan for Windows 11“The clock is ticking” might seem like an obnoxious blog post title when we’re talking about a migration deadline just under two years away (like we all need another vaguely anxiety-provoking reminder in our day). But while not as big a deal as moving from Windows 7 to Windows 10, planning for the migration well ahead is beneficial. Not because Windows 11 is a massive departure from Windows 10 feature-wise but because many companies will need significant hardware upgrades.

While planning for your Windows 11 migration, it’s an opportune time to progress toward cloud-based services and introduce modern endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune and Autopilot. Doing so will help determine which devices need replacing for the migration and increase your company’s ability to efficiently deploy, configure, and manage your company’s devices, operating systems, and applications.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability efforts benefit society and the planet — providing your company with a significant competitive edge. This is why CSR, which encompasses a wide range of activities, from reducing carbon emissions to ensuring fair labor practices, has become central in corporate strategy.

This shift in focus reflects a broader societal transformation. Businesses once focused solely on short-term profits and growth, with their impact on society and the environment as a secondary consideration (if at all). The expectations of today’s uber-connected, socially aware generations have changed all that. Governments, workers, and consumers are increasingly aligned in demanding that corporations act responsibly.

Elevating CSR Through Assessment and Certification

To navigate the complexities of sustainable practices, goals, and stakeholders’ expectations, it helps to go through an assessment process. EcoVadis is the global standard for business sustainability ratings. They have rated over 125,000 companies globally, evaluating 21 sustainability criteria across four core themes: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.

The Ripple Effect of Sustainability: Partners and Customers Want It

We’ve all heard the dreaded term “greenwashing.” It’s the act of conveying a false impression or providing misleading information about how a company’s products and services are environmentally conscious. A company that fails to ensure its suppliers and partners also adhere to sustainable practices could be participating in a form of indirect greenwashing. Customers and consumers don’t want any part of that, as it reflects badly on them.

The happy result is that, as part of a solid sustainability strategy, companies are insisting that their supply chain and partners also focus on CSR, creating a ripple effect that benefits society.

“As climate demands become more pressing and greenwashing accusations are on the rise, it is no surprise that Forrester noted that ‘more rigour and transparency are coming to [Environmental, Social, and Governance] ESG ratings, data, and analytics.’ We believe this clearly signals that sustainability and ESG ratings are taking a vital place on the corporate strategy landscape.”

Pierre-Francois Thaler, co-founder and CEO at EcoVadis

Compucom’s 2024 EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment

Ecovadis Bronze Badge

A solid CSR strategy needs to be goal-driven, achievable, and authentic. We’ve set our course and are holding ourselves accountable, and this is reflected in our April 2024 EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment. This year marks our second entry into the EcoVadis Sustainability Assessment.

Meaningful changes implemented across our organization have earned us a bronze-level rating in our constant progress toward sustainability, placing us in the top 35% of rated companies.

Our score is a testament to the collective efforts invested in our sustainability initiatives. Our environment program addresses energy consumption, greenhouse gases, air pollution, product use, and product end-of-life. In procurement, we prioritize supplier practices that are environmentally and socially responsible, integrating sustainability into every decision. Human rights are paramount, and we strive to enrich the lives of our employees, subcontractors, and communities. Operating with unwavering ethics is non-negotiable for us.

A standout feature of our sustainability endeavors is our waste management and recycling program. As a managed services provider involved in all aspects of the device lifecycle for our customers, from procurement to disposal, we play a vital role in combatting e-waste. We can help you by reselling and reusing devices and keeping quality devices in use and out of landfills. And we’ve always taken this role seriously — over the last 20 years, we have recycled over 3 million pounds of e-waste while donating 2,000 assets to charitable programs and organizations.

Still, we recognize the need to do more. Our customers and partners increasingly expect it, and we expect it of ourselves. With our ongoing sustainability assessments and unwavering focus on CSR, we have a clear roadmap of how we can continue to increase our impact over time.

Migrate Now: HP Makes its Case at Amplify Partner Conference 2024

As those even remotely tuned into today’s IT landscape know — the hot topic is artificial intelligence (AI). It was no different at the HP Amplify Partner Conference that I attended in Las Vegas earlier this month. But at the event, the global technology leader made it clear they’re not just paying lip service to a buzzword — they’re rolling out innovations now to empower customers to fully harness the benefits of AI.

The New Portfolio Lineup of PCs

Reasons to Migrate Now

So, should you hang back and wait for these AI devices to roll out? Well, you could be missing out on potential gains. Here are three reasons forward-thinking IT leaders will act now to provide AI capability at the edge for their workforce.

1. Start experimenting with AI to stay ahead of competitors

AI productivity apps and tools streamline routine tasks and reduce human error. They free up your employees for the creative and strategic work they enjoy, and that helps the company the most. For example, Microsoft 365 Copilot can automate summarizing documents, starting presentations, and managing emails.

To get valuable insights and identify trends, it helps to analyze massive datasets quickly. AI can boost data-driven decision-making to help put your best foot forward.

2. Creating better relationships with work

HP CEO Enrique Lores emphasized that HP focuses on “the combination of AI and hybrid work and how we are going to be able to improve productivity.” But HP also believes that AI can be the key to helping create better relationships with work – something badly needed.

3. Windows 10 end of support is coming, and all companies must be Windows 11-ready

The Windows 10 end-of-support date is 14 October 2025. After this, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates, bug fixes, or technical support for any version of Windows 10. Many companies will need significant hardware upgrades to move to Windows 11 and ensure their fleet does not become increasingly vulnerable to security threats or out of compliance with industry regulations and standards.

Get Future Ready with HP and Compucom

At the HP Amplify Partner Conference 2024, the main message was “Future Ready – United We Win.”. We enjoyed keynote sessions from industry leaders, including Microsoft, Intel, NVIDIA, AMD, Qualcomm, and Google/Alphabet. All were on the same page with HP – hybrid systems and generative AI will power the future of work. It was exciting to see the unveiling of a host of new products and solutions from our long-term partner. We look forward to bringing these next-generation PCs to our customers.

Compucom’s experience implementing solutions across various industries has given us the expertise to make product recommendations and map out a best-fit technology solution for your situation. Using us for hardware procurement will help you manage and reduce product and operational costs and meet your sustainability goals. Our focus is delivering complete technology solutions — the right products that will work best in your environment, backed by the right services, to provide the best user experience and keep your workforce future-ready.
